Frontier Media

Frontier exists to help create more opportunities for art and artists. We are involved in the development, production and fund-raising of projects for all media platforms. We are interested in creating projects that contribute to a more resilient creative economy. Our projects are largely New Zealand focused, however we also love the opportunity to work with art and artists as bridges to build strong connections across cultures and geographies. Our projects endeavour to help create an ongoing profit share for artists by creating revenue models that recognise the value of artists IP and reward them accordingly.

In Pursuit of Venus

Lisa Reihana’s panoramic video wall is a contemporary rumination on the encounters and exchanges of Captain Cook and co with the people of the pacific during their voyages of 1769, 1774, 1779. Inspired by the panoramic wallaper Les Sauvages de la Mer Pacifique 1804, this 32 minute video wall is a visual panorama sitting between the worlds of contemporary art and anthropology. The work is showing at Auckland Art Gallery 1 May - 30 August 2015, and has been selected to represent NZ at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. Viv worked as project Producer 2011 - 2015, alongside Lisa Reihana taking in Pursuit of Venus from conception to first iteration culminating in its successful showing at Auckland Art Gallery 2015.

Margaret Mahy's Imaginarium - a laboratory for upside down thinking

Margaret Mahy looked at the world through a curious gaze and asked astonishing questions. In the process she created a body of work adored by readers worldwide. We are creating a Foundation in Margaret's memory whereby we will offer creative story-telling experiences for children. To help them foster their imaginations and to contribute towards the development of upside-down thinking, such a unique skill of New Zealand entrepreneurs and creatives.
